SSTV & MORE
Yesterday
Aug 22 was quite dead on 20 meters SSTV. I sent out some pics and they were
being received by a few cams around the US. I got no replies. I only have a 1/2
wave horizontal dipole north/south pattern not too high above ground.
Here are some of my contacts this month on SSTV:
YV5MM Venezuela signal 575
VE3YCO Ontario signal 444
WP4NAL Puerto Rico signal 474
I6GKI Italy signal 595
AH6V Hawaii 595
XE1YK Mexico signal 595
And there were several around the US.
This is analog SSTV. I'm going to be testing digital SSTV soon. Much clearer
pics. Also SSTV on two meters. Yes, two can be used. Look at the live cams on
the internet.
Hope to see you soon.

Late
yesterday, Oct 2, around 6pm I fire up Easypal digital SSTV set the radio
frequency to 14.233 usb and called CQ in the waterfall. I waited for a while.
About two minutes later I received a voice contact from Robert W0LMD. He is in
Conifer, CO. and hitting me with 20 over. We talked awhile and I asked him,
since it was my first contact using digital sstv, if I could send him a picture
to check my setup. He replied sure go ahead. So I loaded a picture of me sitting
at my radio desk and sent it. It took awhile, but he reported with voice the
picture came through crystal clear. We continued to talk awhile and then he sent
me a pic. After the program decoded it, it was a crystal clear pic of a sunset
in Conifer. He sent me two additional pictures, one of a forest fire near his
QTH and his QTH radio setup. Quite impressive. I sent one more of two of my six
grandchildren. You've seen them. Time was starting to run out. I had to get to
the bank and then be back for the 40 meter net, Night Watch Net. So we cleared
with each other. It was a great contact. If you haven't tried sstv, analog or
digital, you should. It's a lot of fun. More coming so stay tuned and I hope to
SEE you soon on the radio.
